Our chair, Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz knows the importance of engaging women within the Democratic Party. The DNC Women’s Institute will do just that. Leading up to the 2012 elections, the Institute will support, complement, and expand efforts to elect all Democrats and enhance the Obama for America campaign’s Women for Obama program.
Following the 2012 elections, the Institute will shift its focus to engage the women involved in the party at all levels and provide meaningful resources and tools to them.
Here are five ways the women of DWI will engage—and we want you to be a part of it:
- Hosting events across the country to engage DNC members and other national women’s leaders.
- Writing op-eds in local newspapers, blogs, or use social media (follow us on Twitter at @DNCWomen) to distribute information, talking points and campaign news.
- Hosting house parties for friends, family, and neighbors to tell them why we support the President and engage them in the campaign.
- Joining voter protection trainings to learn about the DNC’s voter protection program and push out information to our networks and communities about new laws and regulations restricting voting rights.
- Volunteering. We get involved with state Democratic parties, volunteer for Women for Obama, help to organize an Obama campaign Truth Team, and become neighborhood campaign captains for the President and other Democrats.
