Welcome to Virginia's 8th Congressional District(see new map, click here), and home of Democratic Congressman James P. "Jim" Moran, Jr.

The 8th District is composed of four jurisdictions: the City of Alexandria, the City of Falls Church, Arlington County, and part of Fairfax County ( including portions of 5 of the 9 Supervisor Districts: Dranesville, Lee, Mason, Providence, and Mount Vernon).

We meet 8 pm the third Monday of the month at the Falls Church Community Center (map, click here).

Primary: Tuesday, June 12, 2012

Upon final certification of petitions for a 2012 Democratic primary there are two candidates for Member, House of Representatives, 8th District (Virginia).

• James P. "Jim" Moran, Jr. (incumbent)
• Bruce B. Shuttleworth

Notice of 2012 8th CD Convention

Solicitation of Resolutions deadline May 4th

The Eighth Congressional District Democratic Committee hereby announces that it will hold a District Convention beginning at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Robert E. Lee High School, 6540 Franconia Road, Springfield, Virginia, 22150, for the following purposes: to elect eight delegates and one alternate to the 2012 Democratic National Convention; to nominate three members to each of the State Democratic Convention Credentials and the Rules Committees; to select a congressional district Presidential Elector representing the Eighth Congressional District in the 2012 general presidential election; to consider resolutions; and, to conduct such other business as may properly come before the Convention.

National Delegates, Alternates and Presidential Electors are elected at both the Congressional District (CD) and State Conventions by the Delegates elected to the City/County Caucuses who attend the CD and State Conventions.
