8th CD Convention
Saturday, May 18th 9:00 am
Every four years, in a gubernatorial year, the Democratic Party of Virginia (DPVA) elects members to the State Central Committee: 20 from each of the 11 Congressional Districts in Virginia.
On Saturday, May 18th, registered voters in the 8th Congressional District (map of the District, click here) will elect 20 members, equally divided between men and women, from among the four jurisdictions (the City of Alexandria, the City of Falls Church, Arlington County, and part of Fairfax County [including portions of 5 of the 9 Supervisor Districts: Dranesville, Lee, Mason, Providence, and Mount Vernon]) that comprise the district to a 4-year term (2013-2017). These members meet quarterly in different cities around the state to conduct the business of the Party. The next quarterly meeting of the DPVA State Central Committee is June 15th in Richmond, when the State Central Committee will elect new officers.
Persons wishing to serve as a member of the 8th Congressional District Democratic Committee must prefile with the District Chair by 5:00 pm May 10th, to run for election on May 18th. See ‘Downloads’ for prefiling form.
